2024 Northeast Florida Risk Manager of the Year Announcement
Dear Valued Members,
The Northeast Florida RIMS Chapter is excited to announce the launch of our inaugural Northeast Florida RIMS Risk Manager of the Year Award. This award is designed to honor a member of our Chapter who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and innovation in risk management over the past year.
We believe that each of us has a unique story to tell, and by sharing your experiences and successes, you can inspire and be a resource for your peers. Whether you spearheaded a major project, implemented groundbreaking risk strategies, or went above and beyond in your role, we encourage you to consider nominating yourself for this award. If you are a broker, consultant, or vendor who would like to nominate a member, we also encourage you to submit an application on their behalf.
The selected individual will also have the distinct honor of being nominated by our Chapter for the prestigious Global RIMS Risk Manager of the Year Award!
To be considered, the nominee does not need to meet all the criteria. The core of this award is about showcasing how you've made a difference:
- How did you solve a challenging problem?
- How did you enhance your company's risk program?
- How did you share relevant data with key stakeholders to drive informed decision-making?
Even if you feel your experience doesn't perfectly align with every one of the criteria provided below, your story still holds immense value. Sharing your successes can provide valuable insights and solutions to others facing similar challenges.
For our inaugural year, the award will be based on the RIMS Risk Manager of the Year and use the following five criteria (but again, not all need to be met):
- Criterion 1: Established and/or implemented risk management strategies that are based on the organization’s business model and are customized for its needs.
- Criterion 2: Tackled and solved one or more major problem(s) for his or her organization, e.g., creatively and effectively used risk financing/insurance or risk transfer program to solve a specific issue, led a major risk management training initiative that improved performance, collaborated with another function to address an emerging risk, etc.
- Criterion 3: Innovatively engaged in applying diverse strategies and techniques in developing integrated organizational risk management competencies, such as enterprise risk management, strategic risk management, business continuity management, safety and health management, information and privacy management, compliance management, claims management, etc.
- Criterion 4: Established a workable intelligence gathering and sharing system inside and outside the organization to inform decision-makers about potential trends, events or activities that may affect the organization’s performance objectives.
- Criterion 5: Advanced the risk management profession (as well as his or her career) through engagement, e.g., risk management-related awards, certifications/designations, mentoring, public speaking, advocacy, research, guest lecturing, publications, etc.
Let's celebrate the achievements of our Chapter members and showcase the impact of risk management in Northeast Florida! We are excited to receive your nominations!
Sincerely,
Northeast Florida RIMS Chapter Board
2023 Florida RIMS Conference Update - April 11, 2023
Florida RIMS Supporters:
Hello, and happy spring! We would again like to thank you for your past support of our Florida RIMS Educational Conference and provide you with another update. The committee has been very busy working with The Ritz-Carlton resorts to determine what our options are for the annual conference in July, considering the temporary closure of the Ritz-Carlton Naples Beach Resort due to Hurricane Ian last September.
The good news is that we have been assured by the Ritz that the Beach Resort will be open and able to accommodate our 2023 conference, July 25-29, 2023, as originally planned! We are beyond thrilled about this, as we know that you will be, as well.
Your Florida RIMS Conference Committee is committed to working closely with representatives from The Ritz-Carlton, so that we are fully aware of any unforeseen delays to their planned opening of the Beach Resort.
We will be sending out more information soon on how you can sign up to be a sponsor, submit a session proposal for review, sign up for the annual golf tournament, and participate in the networking raffle, among other things. In the meantime, keep these important upcoming dates in mind:
Registration opens for SPONSORS: April 24, 2023
Registration opens for RIMS MEMBERS: May 4, 2023 (you will need to provide your RIMS membership number for registration, which can be found in your member profile on the www.rims.org)
Registration opens for NON-MEMBERS: May 8, 2023
Rooms at the Beach Resort will go fast, so be sure to make a note of your registration date. You cannot book a room in the conference room block until you are registered. If you are not currently a RIMS member, this would be a great time to join your local chapter…you’ll get early access to registration AND a discount on conference registration.
We will continue to keep you informed, as we finalize the planning. The sponsor, speaker, golf, and networking raffle forms will be posted to the conference website soon, so please watch for those to be uploaded there. The conference website is Home - 47th ANNUAL FLORIDA RIMS EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE - 2023 (florida.rims.org).
